Born in Paris in 1981, Arthur Harari directed several films at invited festivals. 2017 saw his first feature film, Dark Diamond, nominated for two Cesar Awards and winning the Cesar for Best New Actor. In 2021, his new feature film Onoda-10,000 Nights in the Jungle was selected as the opening film for the "Un Certain Regard" section of the Cannes Film Festival, where it won the Cesar Award for Best Screenplay.

In the last few months of World War II, trained for intelligence work, 22-year-old Hiroo Onoda discovers a philosophy contrary to the official line: no suicide, no giving up, the mission is more important than anything else. Sent to Lubang, a small island in the Philippines, his role will be to wage a guerrilla war until the return of the Japanese troops. It is based on the true story of Japan's last military officer, Hiroo Onoda, who fought alone on Lubang Island for 29 years after the end of World War II. In addition to being selected for the Cannes Film Festival, the movie has attracted critical acclaim and controversy worldwide. Deeply moved by Onoda's loyalty and noble military character, Arthur Harari overcame language and cultural barriers and spent four months in the Cambodian jungle filming in Japanese.
